Italy is popular destination for a lot of reasons, since the territory offers beautiful villages and towns full of history and places for different tastes. Traditions and culture differ from one country to another – as Coquette Atelier – we support you guiding you with choices in order to plan for you the best wedding in Italy.
From legalities to when to go, we have unique locations to get married.
What type of weddings are possible? The religious and civil ones, even if couples can opt for symbolic ceremonies (they’re not legally binding). However, over the years we have gained experience and organized other religious wedding rituals. Let’s take a closer look!
Having a legal ceremony in Italy isn’t exactly straightforward, so here’s a couple of rules for those couples who opt for a civil wedding. A civil ceremony can only take place in a building or town hall authorized by government for this kind of event, as well as scenic vineyards, villas and castles. Venice is one of the top wedding destinations in Italy as well as Tuscan palazzos and terraces overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
Your ceremony is usually made by the Mayor or his assistant. Moreover, the couple must choose at least 2 witnesses present during the BIG day in order to make “legal”.
- whether you speak Italian or not, an interpreter must be present
- readings can be personalized and chosen by the couple
- the marriage certificate will be valid in all countries
For those who are religious the cathedrals and churches really are breathtaking in Italy. For instance, in Apulia Trani’s Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino or In Florence, the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte. The catholic ceremony requires specific paperworks such as baptism certificates issued within 6 months of the proposed wedding date. Coquette Atelier can also support you in order to have a catholic wedding with legal validity.
What if one of the couple is not Catholic? If approved by Parish bishop, mixed religion is not a problem!

When we arrange a wedding ceremony, we do it accordingly to your faith or personal desire. Over the years we have gained experience and organized Protestant, Jewish and Orthodox weddings.
